Glacier de Turia, France

Great day with brother Steve where with Mum we had earlier skied into Les Grandes Pentes (left photo), using a rope to safely rappel down a couloir. In the afternoon we skinned up the Glacier de Turia to get these fresh tracks (right photo) down on to the Grand Col route back to Villaroger. Perfect end to three full-on days.

Couloir Valdez, Les Arcs

500 vertical metres of 40 degree couloir from the top of the Aiguille Rouge onto the glacier du Grand Col. The biggest route I have done in Les Arcs to date. Mark and I roped down the ridge to find a skiable entrance, and put first fresh tracks in. Perhaps we were the first to ski it this season? I am humbled as the last time I skied such a huge couloir was in 1994 with Tim and Andrew Johnson, and the Vaujany gang,

La Rosiere, France - La Thuile, Italy

With Hugh and Nicki, Sam Pritchard and brother Mark we skied over the French-Italian border. Very pleasant day for all. Hugh and I on telemarks - sniffing out powder as in this photo.

Villaroger trip

The continuing storms have deposited huge amounts of snow! With great timing I flew from Finland on Friday night to get two incredible powder days over the weekend. Photos of Mark (perhaps my best photo yet of a powder "face shot"), Sue and Mum in the Foret de Ronaz; and a view from our house down to the church in Villaroger. Can life get better than this?
