Mobile codes

Like an encrypted message containing hidden meaning, a mobile code contains information. New mobile phones equipped with cameras can read the code and reveal the message... Nokia tells more here.

Trip to Leh, Ladakh in the Indian Himalaya

From Delhi, travelling with Hemant and Kumar, we drive through Manali and into the Himalaya. This has to be the toughest road journey I have ever done. Two days climbing passes to a final altitude of 5,328m and an overnight stop under tent canvass at 4,700m. These pictures taken after our arrival in Leh.

Visiting Leh is rather like visting Lhasa in Tibet: arid and dry; high in altitude and steeped in Buddhist tradition. We visit gompas, drive the highest motorable road in the world at 18,380feet (perhaps disputed but definitely higher than 17,500ft), and finally walked a day trek over two mountain passes - Google Earth file.
