Chamonix powder 1999

skier: Martin Dewey Chamonix, 04/99extract from my diary: "Weather clears after two days of heavy snow with the ski area shut, glorious sunshine - we wait from 7:30am at the Grand Montets lift to open at 8:30am. Despite the sunshine it's cold. When we finally get up - fresh everywhere! We're in the first group out of the lift and down Le Lavancher - hugely deep powder and amazing tracks. Hooked up with H then cut an amazing track down a side wall into Le.L. Most amazing powder, quite thick, bottomless, very deep. Italian Bowl of the Hearse - more deep fresh. Through the trees with Marty, deep! Then relaxing at the restaurant terrace in the sunshine. Final two drop-ins to small gullies, photos then back down the mountain. What a day" Saturday 17th April 1999
