Deep fried mars bars?!
Scottish chip shop cuisine has landed in Singapore. Lolli and I visited the "British chippy" in the Far East Plaza and sampled deep fried battered mars bars. Such sophistication!! In fact, they were not bad at all. Surprisingly tasty. A large queue was there; the Straits Times had published a positive write-up on the weekend. Good publicity does work wonders.

Updated: Singapore Open - Sat and Sun
Sunday: Jeff and Tomo, the Briars, and Bonnie and I. Golf played throughout the afternoon. Great fun watching from the terrace. Adam Scott won comfortably ahead of second placed Lee Westwood. Saturday: Michael Lopez, Sanjay C and I spend Saturday afternoon intending to watching the golf pros doing their thing. Unfortunately it rained most of the afternoon, so play resumed late at 5.30. Anyway nice relaxing time on the terrace at the hospitality tent.

Show: Cirque de Soleil on Friday night
(updated) I went last night to the Singapore second performance of Quidam by Cirque de Soleil. It was a fabulous show - more than the amazing acrobatics it's the visual setting and artistic licence that are so cool. In past years Bonnie and I have been regularly (Saltimbanco and Allegria), brother Mark came one year. Go and see Cirque de Soleil !

Update
The last two months have gone by in a flash. Main focus has been getting down to the serious business of finding a job, after my six month sabbatical. I spent a week at the end of August on a course at the National University of Singapore learning about the joys of object-oriented programming; tricky stuff. Also plenty of more pleasant diversions like wakeboarding at Kallang, rollerblading on the East Coast, playing golf in Malaysia, Bintan and Singapore. My birthday was enjoyably spent at the Shahi Maharani restuarant followed by dessert at Raffles Hotel's Empire cafe. Yum!
