Coldplay - live in Singapore
Tonight Coldplay graced Singapore's Indoor Stadium and the crowds arrived for the occasion. All four dressed in black this was stadium rock in purest form: lightshow and visuals to the fore. Maybe it was the soggy acoustics that caused them to sound more like U2 than the intimate sound on most Coldplay recordings: Will Champion whacked the drum kit so hard that he may as well have built a shed at the back. Throughout Chris Martin's voice cut the air and he sings live just like on those polished studio recordings. In response this was far the noisiest crowd that I have seen in Singapore with a very welcome lack of seating on the stage floor level. After the gig crossing the road outside we were very nearly run over by the fast convey of vehicles taking away the band and VIP guests, and we glimpsed a smiling band whiz past. Chris Martin went to the same school in Sherborne that we went too - makes one proud!
